FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
1 FEBRUARY 2025
[CALDWELL COUNTY, NC] – The Caldwell County Branch of the NAACP is proud to announce the passage of a proclamation declaring February 2025 as Black History Month, with a focus on the theme African Americans and Labor. Inspired by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), this year’s Black History Month serves to highlight the transformative role of Black labor in shaping the economic, social, and cultural fabric of the United States, North Carolina, and Caldwell County.
From the forced labor of enslaved Africans to the groundbreaking contributions of Black workers in industries such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and civic leadership, African Americans have been instrumental in building the foundation of our nation. Despite systemic exploitation and dehumanization, Black labor has driven progress, innovation, and resilience, pacing the way for social and economic development.
The Branch reaffirms its commitment to achieving equity, political rights, and social inclusion for all. This Black History Month, the Branch calls on the community to honor the legacy of Black labor by advancing workplace diversity, supporting Black-owned businesses, and creating opportunities that recognize the inherent dignity and potential of every worker.
The Branch invites residents to participate in Black History Month events and activities throughout February 2025, as we reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and work toward a future of mutual respect and opportunity for all.
